“EVOLUTION IS REVERSING:
MAN TURNING BACK INTO MONKEYS”

Recently, as I was waiting to check out at Wal-Mart, I did what many other people do in that same situation – I read the headlines of the magazines which lined the aisle were I stood. You guessed it. The title of this article was one of those headlines. Aside from the humorous aspect of this statement, many things came to mind. First, I realized that many people might even believe this report. We live in a very gullible society. Just because something is printed in a paper, found on the internet or reported on television, does not make it true. Second, I realized that many believe the false theory of evolution to be factual. Even though there is no scientific or Biblical evidence to support the evolutionist’s claims, many believe it anyway. However, the thought that I kept having (more than any other) was that this headline may not be far from describing the society of our day. While it is true that man did not evolve from monkeys, it would appear that men and women today act much like those in the animal kingdom. The behavior and actions of men today could be explained by a rejection of authority rather than a reversing of evolution.
The inspired record of Israel showed a similar situation after the death of Joshua: “In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes” (Judges 17:6). It would seem that many in our present society have adopted the motto of Israel from long ago. Teenagers and young adults are taught by mainstream society to act on their impulses. Our young people are no longer taught to save themselves for marriage. They are taught to “do what feels right.”
Dear friend, is it any wonder that we (as a society) look like monkeys? Animals act merely on impulse and desire. There are no moral boundaries in the minds of animals. It if feels good or seems right, then an animal is going to do it. Despite the teachings of evolutionist, we are not animals. We have been created in the image of God (Gen. 1:16, 27). We have a moral standard to which we are held and by which we will be judged. It is not acceptable for us to just go on impulse and just act out of our desires. It has never been acceptable to do that which was right in our own eyes.
There is a noticeable difference in doing what we think is right and doing what God has legislated. Doing what we think is right will lead to death (Prov. 14:12; 16:25). Doing what God has legislated will lead to life (Matt. 7:14, 21). Doing what we think is right requires no effort, study or concentration. Doing what God has legislated requires dedication, discipline and total commitment to Him. It is true that God has allowed man to choose his own path. But, God never promised hope and life down every path man has chosen.
We are not merely graduated animals. Nor are we literally digressing back into animal form. We do however, often resemble those in the animal world because we do not respect our Creator and His will for us.
